Her research areas include biogeochemistry, environmental microbiology, and soil pollution control. She is the principal investigator (PI) of ten research grants, such as National Natural Science Foundation of China Project (NSFC), Guangdong Natural Science Foundation, China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, and Australian Research Council Grant. She was one of the awardees of the First Award of Science and Technology in Guangdong, China. She is an Academic Editor of PeerJ.
