Abraham S.H. Breure
Summary
Hi, I'm Bram Breure, a Dutch malacologist who is interested in Neotropical land snails since the early 1970s. Studied Biology at Leiden University, where I also obtained my PhD in 1979. After that my career took a different path and I worked for almost 30 years on the topic of sustainable developments in different organizations before I returned - a truly cyclic career - to my research topic: snails.
Having specialized in one of the big groups from the Neotropical region, the superfamily Orthalicoidea, I have also been doing research on the Australian and Polynesian members; the Orthalicoidea have radiated from the ancient continent Gondwana and also occur in southernmost Africa. Other interests are e.g., biohistory and phylogeography.
Currently I'm a research associate at Naturalis Biodiversity Center in Leiden (NL) and the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences in Brussels (BE).
