Summary

Associate Professor Dr. Quyen is currently a Principal Investigator at the Institute of Biotechnology, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology. He holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Sungkyunkwan University School of Medicine, South Korea.
After earning his Ph.D. in 2006, Dr. Quyen pursued postdoctoral training at the Department of Bacteria and Parasitology, National Veterinary Research and Quarantine Service (South Korea), and the Health Science Center, University of Tennessee (USA). His research during this period focused on the molecular biology of Neospora and angiogenesis.
In 2010, Dr. Quyen returned to Vietnam and has since been leading the Molecular Microbiology Laboratory at the Institute of Biotechnology (IBT), Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST). His lab specializes in studying host-microbe interactions, phage therapy, and the development and application of biological products for the treatment and prevention of infectious diseases. Additionally, his team works on molecular biology-based diagnostic tests for microbial pathogens. Another key research interest of Dr. Quyen is the application of modern technologies, such as adeno-associated viral vectors and virus-like particles, to produce safe and highly effective vaccines.
Since 2014, he has been the co-Director of the Department of Life Sciences at the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH). Dr. Quyen also serves as a visiting lecturer at Hai Duong Medical and Technical University, Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry and Graduate university of Science and Technology- VAST.
Dr. Quyen has edited five books and published more than 100 peer-reviewed papers in both international and domestic journals, including Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), Nucleic Acids Research (NAR), Veterinary Microbiology (VetMic), Archives of Virology (Arch Virol), Scientific Reports (Sci Rep), PeerJ, and Journal of Biological Chemistry (JBC).
