Summary

Dr Bridianne O’Dea is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Black Dog Institute. She completed her PhD in Health Sciences at the University of Sydney in 2013 after completing an honours degree in e-mental health. Her PhD examined the relationship between social networking sites and emotional wellbeing in early adolescents. Her current research areas include adolescent depression and anxiety, e-health interventions for mental health, and harnessing social media for suicide prevention. O’Dea has extensive expertise in e-health project management, social media, online service delivery and recently developed expertise in machine learning. Dr O’Dea also has formal research affiliations with the Brain and Mind Research Institute, Sydney, and the Norwegian Institute of Public Health, Bergen. She is a current recipient of a Society for Mental Health Research Fellowship for her project on suicide prevention and social media. She is currently a member of five professional associations and regularly reviews manuscripts for a number of different journals.
