Summary

I am currently a lecturer in the Department of Biochemistry at Universiti Putra Malaysia, Selangor, Malaysia. Currently, I am a supervisor for 6 MSc and 1 PhD students in Enzyme and Microbial Technology Research Center, UPM. I have also completed my postdoctoral training at Monash University, Melbourne, Australia in 2016 working on Hidden Markov Model (HMM) was implemented to identify the novel virulence factors in Klebsiella and A. baumannii strains. In conjunction with my postdoc, I attended an advanced course held by Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute. I found the course had helped me a lot in conducting my projects (in Monash and UPM). My PhD training (2013) focused on the development of novel yeast expression system using molecular biology techniques. After my PhD graduation, I am strongly motivated to develop and enhance bioinformatics skills to complement with the studies of microbiological problems. I received my BSc degree in Bioinformatics from University of Malaya, Malaysia in 2007. I strongly believe that, combination of molecular biology (wet-lab) and bioinformatics (dry-lab) can speed up my research progress. With less than 4 years’ experience as a researcher, I have published 12 publications, 1 patent filed and 2 copyrights.
