Summary

I was educated veterinarian (1986), then moving into the field of Laboratory Animal Science and Comparative Medicine. After obtaining a PhD in 1992 on Refinement in laboratory rat nutrition, I worked in industry as a project manager and Animal Welfare Officer in nutrition research. From 1997-2005 I was professor in Laboratory Animal Science and Comparative Medicine at the University of Southern Denmark and head of the Biomedical Laboratory. From 2005-2017 I was head of the central animal unit at the Radboud University Medical Center and Professor in Laboratory Animal Science. From 2017 I am professor in Evidence-Based Laboratory Animal Science. In 2012 I have founded SYRCLE (www.syrcle.nl), focussing on developing research and education in systematic reviews for preclinical biomedical science and toxicology.
