Summary

Graduation in Agronomy at Federal University of Rio G. do Sul (UFRGS, Brazil); Specialization in Plant Enzymology (Biotechnology Center, UFRGS); Masters degree in Forage Plants, with research on pollen transformation by A. tumefaciens (UFRGS); PhD in Plant Biology, emphasis in Genetics & Molecular Biology (UCDavis, California, USA; Dec, 1997). Two and a half years post-doc position at the National Research Centre of Maize and Sorghum (CNPMS, Sete Lagoas-MG, Brazil) from the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (EMBRAPA, mar/98 - aug/00), working with genetics, physiology and functional diversity of Bacillus thuringiensis for applications in biocontrol of insect-pests. Since August 2000, began scientific and educational services at the Dept Biological Sciences (DCB) from the State University of Santa Cruz (UESC, Ilhéus-BA, Brazil), where is currently employed. Experienced a 23-month leave (Dec/07 - Nov/09) as a visiting scientist at the BioProtection Research Centre (BPRC) from Lincoln University (Canterbury, New Zealand), working with genetics and physiology of growth, development and conidiation of Trichoderma spp strains. Currently, develops research in a variety of aspects of applied genetics and microbiology, including functional microbial diversity at agricultural and ecosystems interface.
