Dinithi C Peiris
Summary
I am a senior faculty member attached to Dept. of Zoology, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. I graduated from University of Colombo, Sri Lanka With honours in Zoology special degree (specialising Environmental Science) and upon graduation i was absorbed to the department staff as a Probationary Lecturer. After a year, I won Open Commonwealth Scholarship to pursue my higher studies at University of Sheffield, UK. Upon completion of my PhD in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, I returned to my country to served at University of Colombo as a faculty member. During this time period, I completed a Post-doctoral fellowship on Cancer Research at Queens' University, Canada. In 2009, I left for Canada to complete my 2nd Postdoctoral fellowship at University of British Columbia. In 2012, returned to country and Joined my present University where i am serving now as a senior faculty member. I have presented in many international conferences and won several academic awards. I also have authored articles in peer reviewed journals. Currently i am supervising several PhD and M.phil. students. My research area falls within alternative medicine specially against cancer, diabetes, infectious diseases, and inflammation and their molecular mechanisms. I am also interested in infertility, toxicology and pesticide effects on human and animal health.
