Summary
Since 70 yrs our laboratory has a tradition of cutting edge research on mammary gland physiology. In 1977, a mammary inflammation group was established. Our scope of investigation has enlarged with the study of epigenetic regulation in bone marrow and mammary stem cells and role during resolution of experimentally induced mammary disease. Burvenich et al., 2003 Vet Res. 34:521, showed that severity of E.coli mastitis depends on gene expression changes during lactation (i.e. epigenetic control).
