Summary
I completed my M.Sc in environmental toxicology in 1988 and became interested in insects and their complex relationships with the environment. After several years spent in the Congo working as a forest entomologist, I completed my PhD thesis in Dijon (France) on phytoplasma diseases infecting grapevine. I continued to work on phytoplasma diseases when I joined the AAFC entomology team in 2001 by working on the epidemiology and management of Aster Yellow (AY), a phytoplasma disease attacking many Canadian crops. My main research interest is to better understand the life cycle of insect pests in canola and cereal crops grown in the Canadian prairies and to develop sustainable control methods to reduce insect pest impact on Canadian crops. Main studied insects are flea beetles and leafhoppers vector of phytoplasma diseases.
