Giovanni Angiulli

Giovanni Angiulli received the Laurea (Master's degree) in Computer Science Engineering from the University of Calabria (Italy) and the Dottorato di Ricerca (PhD degree) in Electronics and Computer Science Engineering from the University of Napoli Federico II, Italy, in 1993 and 1998, respectively. Since 1999, he has been with the Department of Information, Infrastructures, and Sustainable Energy (DIIES, formerly DIMET) at the University Mediterranea of Reggio Calabria, Italy, as an Adjunct Professor. His main research activities concern Computational Electromagnetics, Group Theory methods, and Surrogate ModellingTechniques applied to model microwave circuits and antennas. He also worked on microwave imaging to detect female breast tumors and Ground Penetrating Radar applications in cultural heritage in the last years. He is a Senior Member of IEEE (2015) and a Member of IEICE (2013). In addition, he serves as an Associate Editor for IEEE Access. In recognition of his exceptional contributions, he has been honoured as an Outstanding Associate Editor for 2018 by the IEEE Access Editorial Board. He served as a Guest Editor for Mathematics (MDPI) Special Issue on “Surrogate modeling and related methods in science and engineering” (2021).

Shaolin Liao

Dr. Liao is a Professor (Research & Teaching) at the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, IL, USA. He is also a R&D Staff at Argonne National Laboratory, a laboratory of Department of Energy of U.S.A. managed by UChicago Argonne LLC.

Before joining Argonne, Dr. Liao was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Physics, the City University of New York (CUNY, 2008-2010). Dr. Liao received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, USA, in 2008 and his Bachelor Degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, in 2000. He is an Associate Editor of IEEE Access and a Senior Member of IEEE. He is now joining PeerJ Computer Science journal as an Associate Editor in October 2020. Dr. Liao has 3 granted patents and 1 published patent by the time of October 2020.

Dr. Liao’s research interests span multidisciplinary areas of Applied Electromagnetics: 1) Millimeter/THz wave techniques and 5G/6G; 2) Artificial Intelligence (AI) for 5G/6G big data science; 3) Fiber Lasers & Photonics; and 4) Computational Electromagnetics (CEM).

At last, by October, 2020, Prof. Liao has published more than 80 papers in reputed journals and conference proceedings, including IEEE, SPIE, and Springer. Sebastian Oberst

Dr Oberst works as Associate Professor at the Centre for Audio, Acoustics and Vibration (CAAV) at the University of Technology, Sydney, and is head of the Biogenic dynamics group conducting research in bioacoustics, complex dynamics, and acoustic/biogenic (meta-)materials. His research is applied to the eusociality of insects, (primarily termites, but also bees) and the structures they build, extending to their vibro-acoustic communication signals following the noise control engineering principle. Nonlinear time series analysis or methods used in engineering and physics are key elements of his research applied to the life sciences, especially behavioural ecology.

Sreeprasad T Sreenivasan

Sreeprasad Sreenivasan is an Asst. Professor in the department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at The University of Texas at El Paso. After completing his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Indian Institute of Technology Madras, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Kansas State University and Rice University. Before joining UTEP, Dr. Sreenivasan was a faculty member at Clemson University (Research Scientist) and University of Toledo (Research Asst. Professor). His research interest is in two-dimensional quantum materials. In addition to probing the fundamental properties, his lab also applies quantum structures with engineered properties for electronics, energy, sensing, and biomedical applications.

Su Yan

Dr. Su Yan received his Ph.D. degree in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign (UIUC), Urbana, IL, USA, in 2016. Currently, he is an Assistant Professor and Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, at Howard University, Washington, DC. He has authored or coauthored over 100 papers in refereed journals and conferences and one book chapter. His current research interests include nonlinear electromagnetic and multiphysics problems, electromagnetic scattering and radiation, numerical methods in computational electromagnetics, especially continuous and discontinuous Galerkin finite element methods, integral-equation-based methods, domain decomposition methods, fast algorithms, and preconditioning techniques. Dr. Yan is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and a Life Member of the Applied Computational Electromagnetics Society (ACES). He was a recipient of the ACES Early Career Award “for contributions to linear and nonlinear electromagnetic and multiphysics modeling and simulation methods" by ACES in 2020, the P. D. Coleman Outstanding Research Award and the Yuen T. Lo Outstanding Research Award by UIUC, in 2015 and 2014, respectively. He was also a recipient of the Edward E. Altschuler AP-S Magazine Prize Paper Award by IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society in 2020.
