I am interested in the effect that environmental oscillations have on changing brain connectivity. I study a disorder called mal de debarquement syndrome (MdDS). MdDS is characterized by a persistent perception of rocking self-motion that occurs after a period of adaptation to rhythmic passive motion, typically from sea travel. My lab studies clinical features of MdDS and the functional imaging biomarkers (fMRI and EEG) of this disorder. We are investigating the use of neuromodulation tools like rTMS and transcranial electrical stimulation to try to treat the symptoms of MdDS.
