Summary

The main emphasis of the research is the regulation of skeletal muscle growth and phenotype. This area has implications with regard to muscle wasting in both humans and companion animals. Recent work has investigated adult muscle stem cell studies in large animals. Currently the regenerative properties of these cells in young and old animals are being examined. Previous work has examined various environmental factors and in particular the mechanical environment upon growth and muscle phenotype.
