Summary

My research focuses on Quantitative genetics (GWAS, QTL mapping), epigenetics, functional genomics and MAS towards the improvement of bread wheat. Utilizing the Quantitative genetics’ aspect, I have identified genomic regions on wheat chromosomes 2B, 5A and 7A, that were involved in water stress tolerance. Utilizing GWAS, reported several marker-trait associations (MTAs) that were overlapped with 7 important candidate genes (CGs) involved in transcription, transferase activity, protein processing, lipid metabolic process, protein serine/threonine kinase activity and cytochrome P450 oxidase activity. Also, identified and characterized wheat two-component system (TCS) signaling elements in wheat. Besides this, also characterized serval stress-responsive gene families in wheat & investigated their expression pattern in response to various abiotic stresses. The current research work concentrates on the role of epigenetics in heat stress adaptation and stress memory in plants.
