Summary
My current research is focused on understanding the role of mechanobiology in the regulation of aqueous humor outflow regulation. Major interests lie in teasing out the molecular mechanisms involved in regulation of the extracellular matrix (ECM) production remodeling in the aqueous humor outflow pathway. This includes to understand the role of mechanosensitive channels in the regulation of ECM in outflow tissue and aqueous humor outflow homeostasis.
I am using various tools including global approaches like gene arrays, proteomics, as well as molecular biology along with electrophysiology and microscopy to answer the scientific questions under my realm of research. In addition, my future research will build on my knowledge of mechano-sensation of trabecular meshwork tissue, regulation of cell-ECM interactions and regulation of intraocular pressure. The other focus of the lab is to understand role of chaperones in the regulation of the clearance of ECM.
