Summary
My research is focused in elucidating the role of mitochondria in ischemia and reperfusion injury. In my work I assess mitochondrial function, bioenergetics, redox and cation handling in the ex vivo heart, isolated cells and mitochondria. This interest has involved into the role of post-translational modifications of key mitochondrial proteins in changing mitochondrial bioenergetics, cation handling and redox regulation. This focus could lead to understanding role of mitochondria in stress.
