Summary
I am retired from Langara College (Vancouver, B.C., Canada). My research has focused on the use of sound by fishes for communication (Central American cichlids, Pacific herring) and fish responses to anthropogenic sounds (Pacific herring), and secondarily on sex change in an Indo-Pacific damselfish. Developed an upper-level undergraduate university course in wetland biology, particularly conservation and enhancement. Other relevant interests and activities include learning in redtail and Harris hawks, public outreach especially for immigrant groups, helping in citizen science initiatives. Co-founder of SCWIST (Soc. for Canadian Women in Science and Technology) in 1981.
