Md Tahjib-Ul-Arif
Summary
Md. Tahjib-Ul-Arif is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Bangladesh Agricultural University. He attended Bangladesh Agricultural University, where he earned an undergraduate degree in agriculture (2013) and a master's degree in biochemistry and molecular biology (2015). (investigating salt stress tolerance responses of rice landraces and screening potential rice landraces). He earned his PhD in plant physiology (Okayama University, 2021). This work concentrated on the mechanisms of regulation of cytosolic alkalization and cytosolic calcium elevations in Arabidopsis guard cells. He awarded a JSPS post-doctoral fellowship in molecular plant physiology at Okayama University to explore stomatal signal transduction pathways (2022–2024).
He is an energetic early-career researcher interested in abiotic stress, plant physiology & biochemistry, and plant molecular biology. His research focuses on three main points: 1) plant responses to abiotic stress and stress tolerance improvement; 2) stomatal signal transduction; and 3) applying bioinformatics to solve agricultural/plant science problems. His long-term research goal is to conduct projects in plant biology that use experimental and computational methods to improve crop yields and stress tolerance.
