Summary

Undergraduate educator with experience in biochemistry, genetics, cell & molecular biology, systems biology and bioinformatics. Educational research interests include the use of metacongitive strategies to enable greater student engagement, nontraditional lecture models in the classroom, the roots of student motivation, and the role of technology in science education.

Using biochemistry, molecular biology and genetics, my research lab studies mechanisms of fungal evolution utilizing a variety of laboratory and computation techniques. Specifically, we are interested in the evolution of virulence pathways of fungi in relation to mammalian or plant hosts.
