I am a postdoctoral research associate in Dr. Trent Watkins' laboratory at Baylor college of medicine. Currently working on three independent research projects - o Project 1 focuses on understanding the role of transcription factor ATF4 and its interacting proteins in neuronal apoptosis and investigating ways to prevent apoptosis. o Project 2 focuses on using the optic nerve crush model to investigate why long-distance axon injury to neurons results in failure of regeneration. This study is relevant to spinal cord injury models. o Project 3 involves developing a new technology or tool using shRNA mediated knockdown for medium throughput screening of neuroprotective and pro-regenerative genes in the retina.
