The decision to base the final diagnosis purely on 2 years' clinical follow-up is likely the only concern some readers will have with the methods. However, its results differ substantially from the general impression in the field based on reports from other centers. Its primary results, on diagnosing Parkinson disease (PD), were published in 2013 in BMJ Open, but here the authors address depression in PD, also an important question, and this study similarly finds different results than do prior reports.
