How novel is the taxonomic information presented in this paper?

The authors identified the mushroom as Russula senecis based on previous literature. Was any comparison to confirmed specimens of Russula Senecis present in mycological collections possible? What features of the present taxonomic description are more detailed vs. the original monograph by Imai?
