Your casts of rooted teeth seem to be larger (and thus heavier?) than those of shed teeth – how have you dealed with this?

Interesting article! While looking at fig. 1, I noticed that the casts of the rooted teeth are larger than the casts of the shed teeth. I do not understand why the differences in transportation distance can be reduced to the morphology rather than just to the different size (and mass)?
