From the figures it appears that certain areas of the preserved plumage are darker than others. Is this taphonomic or possibly indicative of the color of the organism? Are there plans to sample this to determine the answer? It would be interesting to see if any coloration data can be gained from other assigned specimens, given the noted differences in plumage especially around the head.
