What was the reason for stimulus used in order to entice the fish into entering and remaining in the target area?

In this paper, it is stated that conspecific stimulus fish were placed in the target hall. Why was this used as a reward instead of food or something similar? Did the Spiny Chromis mate with the stimulus one, or are Spiny Chromis shoaling fish?
