After carefully reading "Lochmiller, R.L. and Deerenberg, C. (2000), Trade-offs in evolutionary immunology: just what is the cost of immunity?. Oikos, 88: 87-98. https://doi.org/10.1034/j.1600-0706.2000.880110.x" I could not get the statement "According to current knowledge, age-dependent immune system function may be related to the allocation of energy and nutritional resources, depending on reproductive strategy. Semelparous animals, i.e., those that reproduce once in a lifetime, maximize the body’s resources allocated to the reproduction process. Iteroparous organisms, reproducing many times during their lifetime, have to incur a greater metabolic cost associated with keeping the soma in good condition (Lochmiller & Deerenberg, 2000)."

I am wondering this statement should be the logic reasoning which actually does not need to refer to any literature or it is the interpretation of that paper which actually did not talk about the stated aspects.
