Could DEET be used by people as a generic term for picaridin and IR3535?

Is picaridin and IR3535 used more, but people simply refer to them as “DEET”? I’ve personally observed this. Is the rate of use of repellents other than DEET nested within the survey data for “Spray-on repellent with DEET”?
