I am agree with your interpretation. In the story telling of the Thecosomata diversyfying, I did not clearly mentionned the ecological replacment theory of ammonnites by (at least) the thecosomata, it was out of scope our article. However it was clearly what I though. Your article and your "macroecological" appraoch is very interesting.
