Matthew effect bias: Positioning decision ignores graduate students, collaborators contributions

In many disciplines, it is common practice to put graduate students. lab technicians etc in the middle of authors' list. Wouldn't your scheme completely erase their contribution? It seems to me it favours established authors already (hence "Matthew effect"). How do you propose to deal with this?
