The taxon ranges are incorrect.

There is no documented overlap of Leptosuchus and Smilosuchus (early to mid-Norian) with any Machaeroprosopus species (mid- to late Norian). The NA Rhaetian phytosaur is Redondasaurus (possibly synonymous with Machaeroprosopus, but a different species than the Norian forms). How would this affect your discussion?

Thanks for pointing out the errors in these stratigraphic ranges. The ranges shown were based upon information in Table 1 of Stocker & Butler (2013), in which Leptosuchus is listed simply as Late Triassic and Smilosuchus and Machaeroprosopus as Norian. The "ranges" therefore represent stratigraphic uncertainty rather than true ranges. Clearly based on your post it would be possible to refine and narrow these uncertainties but given the ongoing uncertainties about the taxonomy of many of the North American phytosaurs and the confusing dating of many of the North American units (especially those in Texas) we did not attempt to do this for this paper as changes in the stratigraphic ranges would not affect our data, analyses discussion or interpretation.
