I wonder how fossil helminth attachment structures would fit in here?

Fossil attachment structures from the Devonian have also been attributed to monogeneans: see De Baets et al. 2015 for a review

It would be interesting to see how they would fit into the evolution of these structures in monogeneans. How do you feel about these interpretations?

Thank you for your perspective. So far our group has been working with only extant species, so we are not familiar with the paleobiology of monogeneans. However, we would love to learn more! We'd be pleased to receive a copy of your work and read it to get some ideas about your question.
