I notice you use the term "significant" to introduce the thought experiment question. Do you think there is advantage in discouraging the use of this term to help avoid over interpretation?

"Significance" (normally at p<0.05) is entirely an arbitrary term. However, it is used as if it is some great gold standard we must all strive for. If editors were only to allow its use when formal power calculations have been done at a specific alpha (aka significance) level then this may focus the authors on the real meaning of their results.
