This work could not have done without the assistance of the New England Aquarium veterinary staff, in particular Charles Innis DVM, Barbara Bailey, Caity Crowley, Julie Cavin, and Scott Dowd, who maintained the animals and provided access for sampling.

In terms of our sampling, the method used is a non-invasive sampling that uses standard veterinary methods (cotton tipped swabbing of animals) that was conducted as part of a routine physical examination of the animals. This study did not need IRB approval because the trained, veterinary staff was present and conducted the sampling for us. We did no sampling or handling of the animals
