Abstract

Bryophyte Phylogeny Poster

This educational poster presents an overview of the evolutionary relationships among nonvascular land plants based on broad consensus as of early 2019. The phylogenetic tree depicts the divisions, subclasses, orders, and families of "bryophytes", listing the main apomorphies and plesiomorphies as well as diagnostic and nondiagnostic anatomical, morphological, and phytochemical features also for the higher ranks within the tree. The intuitive color-coding facilitates memorization and teaching. Translations will soon be available in 12 languages (all freely accessible on ResearchGate and other platforms). This is part of a series of educational posters on the phylogeny of land plants.
