Abstract

Bryophyte Phylogeny Poster

This educational poster presents an overview of the evolutionary relationships among nonvascular land plants based on broad consensus as of early 2019. The phylogenetic tree depicts the divisions, subclasses, orders, and families of "bryophytes", listing the main apomorphies and plesiomorphies as well as diagnostic and nondiagnostic anatomical, morphological, and phytochemical features also for the higher ranks within the tree. The intuitive color-coding facilitates memorization and teaching. Translations of the poster by internationally renown bryologists will soon amount to 12 languages (all available on ResearchGate). This is part of a series of educational posters on the phylogeny of land plants.
