Summary

I am an experimental psychologist with an interest in studying basic and applied issues concerning human cognition. My research topics in basic research include, for example, mechanisms of visual attention, dual-task performance, response conflict and action control. More applied topics of my research are, for example, variables affecting offside judgments in soccer (European "football") and factors affecting performance in paper-and-pencil tests of attention (e.g. handedness, practice).

I studied psychology at the universities of Regensburg and Osnabrück (Germany). In 2000, I received my Ph.D. (Dr.phil.) from Ludwigs-Maximilians-University in Munich. After holding post-doc positions in Munich and Erlangen, I moved to TU Dortmund University in 2008, where I am now a Professor of Psychology.
