Dear Ola, Samuel, others, thank you for this review. I've read the manuscript and find it to give a fair overview of the field. However, I feel it would benefit from three things. First, I would not mind more references to the ICT literature about that various aspect, about design decisions, but perhaps also performance. That gets me to a second point, this summer I was looking around for what command line-based workflow system to use (Samuel may remember that Twitter thread) and I ended up with Nextflow. However, this was more by chance than by proper comparison. A table outlining important features of the various alternatives would be very welcome, as it would give a quick overview of the options and features I should be basing my selection on. Finally, from a biologist perspective, a figure or two on how one of the solutions works in biology (I could imagine a simple workflow implemented in each solution) may help getting the message of the review through; thing is, at this moment i'd rather read a few more practical blog posts with alternatives in action in biology than a now pretty dry textual review where I had trouble keeping focused on the message.
