Chun-Nan Hsu
Summary
Chun-Nan Hsu is Associate Professor at Biomedical Informatics, Department of Medicine, UC San Diego. He earned his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Southern California. He is a researcher, educator, highly cited author and entrepreneur of next generation health care and science. He shares the hypothesis that health care is more about health information sharing and management and strives to develop revolutionary approaches leveraging the most advanced information technologies. His research contributes to the topics including next generation health communication paradigm, clinical and research text and data mining, large-scale machine learning algorithms, data integration for drug discovery, high-content screening, and SNP analytics. Dr. Hsu has published more than 100 highly cited peer-reviewed research articles in the fields of machine learning, data mining, and biomedical informatics. His team developed widely used software tools for biomedical sciences, leading to commercialized products. He was awarded Senior Member of Association of Computing Machinery (ACM) in 2011 and the IBM Faculty Award for his distinguished contributions to biomedical text mining in 2012.
