Has a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of Paraná (1988), a Master's degree in Marine Sciences - University of San Diego (1991) and a PhD in Oceanography - Texas A & M University (1996). Is currently a Full Professor at the Federal University of Espírito Santo. He is active in the areas of Oceanography, Aquaculture and Environmental Sciences, with emphasis on Interaction between Marine Organisms and Environmental Parameters, working mainly on the following topics: zooplankton ecology, ecotoxicology, marine organism cultivation and bioecology of decapod crustaceans.
