As pointed out, M Ali was never knocked out yet evidently sustained brain injury. My impression of the literature is also that there is no relation between knockouts and CTE. All the discussion about concussion is therefore quite confusing and misleading, and in fact the word is best avoided altogether when reviewing CTE. In my opinion, concussion is caused by overload of the peripheral vestibular organs in the ear, CTE by brain damage.
