Dr. Muhammad Tariq is a Tenured Professor at FAST National University of Computer & Emerging Sciences (NUCES) Islamabad Campus, Pakistan. Previously he served as head of the Department of Electrical Engineering and the Department of Sciences & Humanities. In 2017, he was selected as the youngest campus director in the History of FAST NUCES, where he completed his tenure successfully on 31st December 2020. He has 10 years+ Post Ph.D. teaching, research, and academic administrative experience with a total overall experience of 16+ years. He has completed his Post-doctorate as a Fulbright scholar under the supervision of renowned American Scientist Prof. H. Vincent Poor, his Ph.D. as a Japanese govt (MEXT) scholar, and industrial MS as a Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan scholar. He has authored/co-authored 70+ research papers and articles (260+ Impact score). He has co-authored a book with leading researchers including a Nobel Prize Winner, titled ”Smart Grid Standards, Specification, Requirements, and Technologies,” published by John Wiley and Sons in 2015. Six of his Ph.D. students have completed their Ph.D. under his supervision, and are now serving in some of the best universities in Pakistan, Europe, and Canada. He has presented his research work at various IEEE flagship conferences held around the world. He has traveled to 25 different countries so far. He remained general chair and session chair in various IEEE flagship conferences. He has rendered his Technical Committee services in various conferences and editorial services in reputed high-impact factor journals and transactions. Dr. Tariq is the Academic Editor of PeerJ Computer Science (IF 2.41, Q1), Circuits, Systems and Computers (IF 1.3), Associate Editor (AE) of IEEE Access (IF 3.47, Q1), and IET Smart Grid. He was declared an Outstanding AE of IEEE Access in 2019. In 2017 and 2019, he was selected twice as a High-End Foreign Expert through the International Cooperation Project funded by the State Administration of Foreign Expert Affairs, China. In 2017, he was selected as one of the youngest program evaluators (PEV) of the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) for Electrical, Electronics, and Computer Engineering. He is a registered engineer of PEC and a master trainer of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) (Washington Accord-based level II Accreditation). He is the current Chair of the IEEE Peshawar Subsection. He is also serving as founding chairman of Pukhtunkhwa Open Source Foundation.
