In this article, the most character-rich analysis of Pterosauria to date (that I am aware of), lagerpetids comprised part of the outgroup for the first time in a pterosaur analysis. The appropriateness of using more derived taxa and composite outgroups to polarize pterosaur characters was also briefly discussed.
