Kris Niño G Valdehuesa
His current works/interests involve microbial production of organic acids and alcohols from C5 sugars derived from renewable biomass, employing synthetic biology and metabolic engineering techniques. Target products range from xylonic acid, ethylene glycol, glycolic acid, 1,2,4-butanetriol, and other related compounds. He is currently a KRF (Korea Research Fellowship) recipient, a 5-year fellowship program.
Prior to joining Myongji University's combined Masters-PhD program of the Department of Energy and Biotechnology, he worked as a production supervisor in Del Monte Philippines. During this period, he manages at least 50 individuals per shift which is responsible for the receipt and proper distribution/segregation of fresh pineapples.
