Summary

Dr. Joseph P. Grande is a Consultant in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology, Division of Anatomic Pathology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He also holds joint appointments in the Department of Surgery and the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Nephrology and Hypertension. He is a Professor of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology and holds full faculty privileges in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology and Clinical and Translational Science in Mayo Clinic Graduate School. Dr. Grande earned a Bachelor’s Degree with highest honors in Chemical Engineering at the University of Notre Dame. He went on to earn his Ph.D. in Pathology and M.D. from the University of Chicago. Dr. Grande completed his residency in Anatomical and Clinical Pathology at Mayo Clinic. He then completed a post-doctoral fellowship in the Department of Pathology at the University of Michigan Medical School. Dr. Grande served as the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine from 2006 to 2013. He has served as mentor to 50 students, research trainees, fellows, residents, and visiting clinicians. He has been recognized by Mayo Medical School classes as Teacher of the Year 11 times during his career. Dr. Grande is certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomical and Clinical Pathology. He was elected to the Executive Board of the National Board of Medical Examiners in 2013.
