Nature Protocols launched in June 2006 and has quickly become the leading publication for experimental protocols in the biological and biomedical sciences. We publish high-quality, recipe-style protocols providing step-by-step descriptions of procedures, which users can take to the lab and immediately apply in their own research. The clear and accurate presentation of complex experimental protocols is fundamental to the reproducibility of research and, as such, Nature Protocols is integral to NPG’s vision for the future of scientific publication. We now have an exciting opportunity for an editor (locum – secondment cover) to join our editorial team. The ideal candidate will have a PhD (or equivalent), and preferably postdoctoral experience, in an area of the biological or biomedical sciences, along with excellent scientific judgment and a broad knowledge and understanding of the challenges faced by researchers at the bench. Candidates with laboratory experience in molecular biology, genetics, genomics, epigenomics, developmental biology, bioinformatics, or imaging are particularly encouraged to apply. Previous editorial experience would be beneficial, but is not required. As a key aspect of this role will be interacting with the scientific community and attending international conferences, the successful candidate must be dynamic, outgoing and prepared to travel, with excellent interpersonal skills. The position will be based in NPG’s office in London; accordingly, candidates must be able to demonstrate the right to live and work in the UK.
