The University of Helsinki encourages researchers to make their research open access. Helsinki University Library is involved in various open science initiatives and actively promotes transparency, effectiveness and the free dissemination of scientific information. The aim is to make research as visible and utilised as possible.

Helsinki University Library has made a pre-payment with PeerJ, the award winning peer-reviewed Open Access journal in biology, medicine, and the life sciences, which can be used to cover the APC per publication to publish in PeerJ. This option is also available for the new 'PeerJ Computer Science' journal. Submit your article using your email address to ensure your institutional affiliation.
