Summary
Gunther Köhler received a degree in Veterinary Medicine (Staatsexamen) at the University Gießen, Germany, in 1993, and a Doctoral degree at Goethe University Frankfurt am Main, Germany, in 1995; since that time, he has been the Curator of Herpetology at the Senckenberg Research Institute, Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Since 2017 he is also professor at the Goethe University, Frankfurt am Main, Germany. His research focuses on the Neotropical herpetofauna, and for three decades he has done field work in Central and South America, Mexico, in the Antilles, and more recently in Myanmar. To date, Gunther has authored or co-authored 27 books and 223 research papers on amphibians and reptiles.
