Fulvio D'Acquisto
Summary
Fulvio D'Acquisto graduated in pharmaceutical chemistry in 1993 from the University of Naples Federico II and was trained in pharmacology at the Department of Experimental Pharmacology of the Faculty of Pharmacy. He earned his Ph.D. degree in experimental pharmacology (1999).
During his postdoc at the Immunobiology section of Yale Medical School (1999-2004), he investigated the mechanisms by which TCR signaling leads to the activation of NF-kB. .
In 2006, he was appointed as a Senior Lecturer in Immunopharmacology within the Center for Biochemical Pharmacology at William Harvey Research Institute. He was conferred the title of Reader in Immunopharmacology in 2009 and Professor of Immunopharmacology in 2014.
He has been Deputy Director of the Centre for Biochemical Pharmacology of the William Harvey Research Institute from 2014 till 2017. During this period he has also been involved in the establishment of the Life Science Institute at QMUL and co-lead the biomedical research domain with Prof. R Pickersgill.
In 2017 he has been awarded an MA in Transpersonal Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Northampton for the study of dreams in patients suffering from autoimmune diseases. In the same year, he has moved to the University of Roehampton, Department of Life Science, to take up the position of Professor of Immunology where he is currently studying the links between emotional states and the immune inflammatory response.
