The IW-TOAE is the 3rd in the series of international workshops organized in the scope of the IGCP 655 Project (financed by UNESCO and IUGS): Toarcian Ocean Anoxic Event – Impact on marine carbon cycle and ecosystems. It will be held in Erlangen (Germany) from September 2-5th, 2019 in the Geozentrum Nordbayern (FAU). Key focus is the impact of this event on marine organisms and ecosystems. It is open to all other researchers focused on the study of the palaeobiological and palaeoenvironmental perturbations associated with the Pliensbachian–Toarcian boundary and the T-OAE.
The activities will include (1) a conference day with oral and poster presentations, (2) two-day field trip visiting key Pliensbachian-Toarcian sections (Dotternhausen, Buttenheim and Teufelsgraben), and (3) Short Training Course focused on the macroecological impacts of climate-related stresses (3D-imaging techniques, organic molecules and R programming).
