Top Bioinformatics Papers - June 2015 - hosted on PeerJ

Bioinformatics is a vibrant field of study which makes significant use of areas such as computer science, statistics, mathematics and engineering to study biological data. Given the strong multi-disciplinary nature of this research, we are pleased that leading bioinformaticians have chosen to publish some of their best work in PeerJ, and most recently in PeerJ Computer Science. By publishing this work in an open access venue, their research can now be freely discovered, read and re-used by anyone with an interest in this field, or in any of the fields allied to it.

This collection of 10 articles represents some of the most noteworthy bioinformatics research which 'PeerJ' and 'PeerJ Computer Science' have published through June 2015. The list was compiled by examining a range of article level metrics - many are already highly cited, and they have all had a high number of page views. The resulting list is a subjective snapshot of the most interesting bioinformatics research appearing in PeerJ today. The authors of every single one of these articles also chose to make their peer-review history public, making them even more useful to the community. And in addition, seven of the articles were published first as PeerJ PrePrints, further accelerating the communication of these results.

If you would like to nominate a subject area for future PeerJ 'Top 10' Collections, just email us at info@peerj.com or tweet us with the hashtag #peerjspotlight.

If you are a researcher working in this area, then we encourage you to submit your next articles to PeerJ.
